For those who have lost gears/stuck in gear due to the broken bolt issue,it is almost impossible to lift out the tower with a gear engaged. This is caused by the fork 'detent'/ cage from preventing upward movement. The cage only allows one of the 3 shift forks to be engaged in gear at any one time. If you force/lever the tower up,without breaking the casting, you will still bend that cage as it passes shift forks. We are pleased to advise that we now have stocks of these parts(which are not sold by Ford and can only be had as part of the whole tower assy,if you can find one! and costs several hundred $$$$!)
We will, for any tower sent to us with a damaged cage replace it FREE OF CHARGE as part of a 'Keyed Tower' mod. We advise that you DON'T try to bend back a bent cage as it's set up is critical to smooth engagement of the forks. We should also add that this offer is only on customer Keyed Tower mods,we will not sell these for the DIY owner, they are far too hard to come by!!!!A pic of the detent/cage is below.
