So with the luxury of having some time on my hands.. i decided to tackle installing my tie rods myself.. then driving the vehicle to my buddies shop for an alignment.

So.. besides what the Haynes/chiltons manuals say.. is there any tips or tricks or special tools that will make this less painful?

I appreciate any info..

thanks gang!

make sure you count the number of turns to take the outer tie rod off. then you put the new one on the same number so you are close on the alignment. Then if you really want you can measure the toe adjustment and see where it is at. With the wheel straight measure the distance between the the centers of the tires front and rear. you want them to be the same of slightly toe in or a smaller measurement on the front side of the tire compared to the back.
