i know most of you are going to be like what kind of dumb!!! doesnt know how to use one. im needing just some basic info i already know to test your alt start car, turn heat on, headlights and it should read between 12.5 and like 14 i think. i bought my multitester used so i dont have basic directions you know test the amplifier, grounds, plug wires, etc, etc. oh and another thing i dont know what to turn this on to do a car it doesnt have a 12 volt switch. i looked and i looked for simple multimeter instructions before someone says search if someone knows where a good link is let me know.

It's just a simple non-auto ranging meter. Sells for less than $20 (sometimes $10 on sale). That means YOU have to select the proper range. As a general tip, always select the highest range then step it down until the maximum resolution is displayed. Basically, set your meter to the 20 VDC setting, connect the black lead to the COM plug, then the other end to ground. Connect the RED meter lead to the rightmost plug, then use the RED lead to probe the circuit. Basic operation requires you to set the FUNCTION to the proper selection (AC volts, DC volts, AC or DC current, reisitance, or battery test along with the proper range). |
