...so, what's Terry on about now????????????????

Well with my recent trip to UK,info we read here to keep up to date, and always on the lookout for ways to improve our MTX75 builds etc...Couple that with Robs recent high speed run in the Big Bend race etc..maybe it's time to consider a change of oil for the MTX75???

Digging around I now find a new generation of lubes that run a lot cooler and can reduce drag/friction by around 25% Vs conventional synth oils...

So here are a few bits of info as to what this NT is all about..

"NANO TECHNOLOGY" transmission oil is an elegant solution to the problem of extreme pressure additives in oil, replacing the sulphur phosphorous compounds that are becoming unpopular. Everyone who has used the oil has been greatly enthusiastic about it, especially in the motorsport world where it is especially pertinent to the heavy duty side of motorsport transmissions."

This new family of additives, known as Inorganic Fullerines (IF), which are made up of structures the size of 100 nanometres or less. This technology reinforces the oil molecules, which has the key advantage of reducing friction, heat and wear in transmission components.

This new technology gives considerably improved performance over oils which utilise the more conventional “solid lubricants ” such as molybdenum disulphide and PTFE. It also has the advantage that it can be used in synchromesh gearboxes where it is unwise to use these other forms of solid lubricant.

Imagine adding billions of tiny ball bearings into the oil. Under very heavy loads, these tiny ball bearings deform, and take the shape of tiny rollers which reinforce the oil molecules. This increases the load carrying capacity of the oil, reduces friction and therefore reduces heat and wear.

...so these are the basic of NT lubes. Downside is cost..and we are digging further with a suppler about this along with more tech detail, use in the 'salt car' trans for Rob's run etc etc....

We will keep you posted...

I have yet to find any oil suppliers over here that are using it,but in UK and Europe there are a couple who I am in touch with re spec, applications etc etc.Initial take on cost appears to above conventional synth lubes due to nano type additives, will post/advise as soon as I have more info..

Price!!

Well 'expensive'...a ltr of this new oil, NOT including import duty and any margin will run around $26+!!..

I just hope some American oil suppliers can get up to speed with NT!!!

Is this the stuff? http://www.millersoi...AUTO_RETAIL.htm

Even their non-NT lubes are pricey!!
