So, I'm about to come in possession of one of these cars, and I have question about the dash. Of course, you could all probably guess that my problem is that the dash has come undone and is now messing with the defrost. Now, I've heard a few answers from a few people. One person's said that if you whine enough at a Ford Dealership that they'd fix it gratis because it was a manufacturer error. However, another has said that it's probably too late to this now (which I can definitely see, seeing as how the car is about 11 years old).
So, can someone confirm/deny one of these? I've also heard there's a kit one can buy to repair, but, once again, it's all hearsay.
Thanks for any answers, links to any helpful information would be much appreciated as well.
Quick question

no hersay at all about it. there was a recall that installed a dash warp kit. good chance it was 100k miles or 10 year deal. so i highly doubt you'll get a dealer to install a dash warp kit by complaining at this point. not sure if a kit can be tracked down any more. you can swap dashes to one from a 98 or you can attempt to repair the dash yourself.

Are there instruction manuals on the internet on how to repair the dash by oneself? Also, how much would repairing it myself run me?

you need to find a glue that will hold, and then glue it back together. suggest getting at least the clips from the dash warp kit to help with this.
no idea what the cost for the repair to be completed would be.

And I and I can find the dash warp kit where exactly?
Sorry if I appear a bit slow, I'm just trying to make sure I don't miss anything.

Instead of looking for something like the kit, that you may have a hard time finding (if you look I suggest Google) why not make something that will work and can be bought anywhere. I suggest going to Menards or Homedepot or Lowes, ect... and buying some clamps instead of the clips to hold the dash in-place while the glue dries. As for the glue, try the construction adheasive. It's used for glue'n OSB to joists on roofing jobs. It withstands heat and stays firm for a long time.
