Hello everyone ,im newbie to ford and their cars.I fix and sell cars with my dad's help.so recently we have purchased 2 ford contour and had nothing but hard time with one of them.this 98 had low compresion and when i opened the motor 2 cylinder was so worn out that we have desided to change the engine with another.I picked up good used engine from the local yard and removed the old one with ease.now the torque converter is too much out and the engine will not bolt to the tranny.I looked all over the net but i guess im the only moron that cannot figure this out.the torque converter dosent wanna go all the way in and the 10 mm clearance that autozone says i must have between the the bellhousing top and the converter are like 2-3 so i know im doing something wrong.I tried spinng the converter hopping that it will fit but there is something im missing.I wanna clear that the car was in park when i removed the engine and the converter came off. Please if u have ever had this kinna problem or maybe the car needs to be in gear so something.Man im so pissed ive never feld so stupid im my lifetime

The torque converter can be tricky and has given many people problems over the years. Trick is to hold pressure against the converter and spin clockwise until it pops in. It will pop on and go back another 5mm or so when the inner drive lines up.
I just had to verify this on a Cougar I was working on at the shop because otherwise it's a PITA to pull back apart and reset.
