well i got a contour in a trade didnt really want it but i got it lol
so now the tranny is acting up
but i dont like tranny work nor tranny fluid
and i had the idea to swap a 4.6 v8 modular motor and tranny in then make it rwd with an 8.8 ford rear and do the sleeper thing
but this 3.0 swap seems popular so im going to ask whats all involved in this swap? and what power is expected out of it and milage?
the only concern with the 4.6 would be milage as its a v8
also i have done plenty of mods on ford diesels psd and idi and have a good reputation over on a few of those sites but if i ask something stupid bear with me as i know very little about these contours. i am an experienced mechanic and have helped my buddy with a 3gt yota swap so its not out of my realm

The typical 3L swap yields around 220-230hp at the crank. Mileage is usually the same as the 2.5L, but can be higher depending on tuning and final drive ratio. My '02 Cougar 3L routinely gets 30mpg on the highway. The swap is fairly simple because the 2.5L and 3L blocks are so similar. Tuning is required though.
