While we all know that our Tours can be a general PIA at times, every once in a while they throw us a bone and keep the Luv going..... Case in point see the pic below. That is my 95 mystique dash in the 99 SVT and the glow is the fog light indicator under the fuel guage.

So think about your dash and two spots to the left is the CEL. That was shining brightly as I drove to work this morning. But during the day sometime that wonderful piece of automotive engineering fixed itself... (ya right)(perhaps the bulb burned out or the wiring harness shorted, or the connector burned up or....take a breath)

But HEY it made me feel good not seeing it as I left a stressful day of button pushing and spending hundreds of thousands $$$ of the bosses loot. And isn't that why we drive these cars cuz it feels good to do so :D

Happy New Year
Keep it between the lines.

I need some of that Contour good luck to rub off on mine! I guess I'll have to start parking closer to you.

It is rather nice to not have so much wind noise in the cabin. Not so nice to hear the P/S pump whine...I wish that would fix itself! The new switch didn't help at all...looks like a warranty job. Wanna help?

I may be able to it depends on the timing...... Glad that gasket fix worked. Too bad that switch didn't fix it.

Is that light blue?? In my 95 there is the OD indicator... I don't see why or how it can indicate a fog light.... weird

Have you tried replacing the P/S fluid with Mobil1 Synthetic ATF?
I did that many years ago and it's worked out pretty well. Definitely quietened the pump a bit even though it didn't really whine.

In your 95 if you have fog lights your indicator is on the left end of the dash. As I said I have a 95 Mystique dash in the 99 SVT. The 95 Mystique has the fog light indicator light on the headlight switch bezel. 98-00 Tours have the foglight indicator light in the instrument cluster under the fuel guage. Your 95 instrument cluster does not have that. Yes the light is green not blue it's a cell phone pic, and the glare off the trim on the right looks larger than the actual light. When I was doing the install I did a posting all about those fog light indicator lights (I have both the tour & sitque ones).

Shotwell did do the ATF switch and it didn't help a bit. The darn thing whines like it is faulty. We thought that it could be the little pressure switch on the line that increases engine speed when you turn the wheel at idle. He swapped that out but it didn't help. The pump does work when you rev the engine, but something is definately wrong with it.

... On the pump noise, some years ago we had a Contour in the shop with a bad pump noise and it turned out to be muck in the power steering reservoir, this caused a restriction in flow to the pump and cavitation due to lack of fluid. Might be worth cleaning out the power steering reservoir and check the condition of the feedline... Just a thought

Thanks guys...did the switch to Mobil 1 ATF and cleaned the reservoir. The pump is only getting worse. I'm convinced it's a bad pump now. It whines even when I rev it up now! I'm going to install a filter on the return line to get rid of any possible muck in the system before I change the pump again. It's not terrible bad to change, but I don't like doing things twice!

That's why you never talk bad about your car while you're IN the car. They know, and they hold grudges. Good car, nice car. Niiiice.
