I have a 2000 SVT that, while driving down the highway the other day, just started losing power, like it was running out of fuel. After shutting it off for about 5 min., I started it up and it ran fine for about 20 min. and then did the same thing again. I have noticed lately that it runs better when you first start it, once it warm up and you really get on it, it falls on its face at about half throttle. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Andy

Is the check engine light on? What's the maintenance history?

There are alot of issues that can cause that problem. First and foremost is a converter failure. I've seen 3.0L engines have no power at all at more than 1/4 throttle because the converter melted down and the airflow was restricted. It is aggrivated by heat, and if you let it cool it will run ok for a few minutes/miles.

Yeah, that does sound very much like a clogged cat.
