My 95 Mystique died yesterday as I accelerated into an intersection. Great timing, let me tell you. Tried to restart it and it was making the normal sounds but just wouldn't catch, leading me to believe the engine wasn't getting any fuel. I figured it was my fuel filter, fuel pump, or something of the sort.

I dropped by my mechanic today after he'd had it in for a few hours, and he said they're 99% sure it's electrical. The fuel pump wasn't getting any power which is why it wouldn't turn over. He said the wires in the engine look pretty bad as far as flaking goes, and they're going to see what they can do without having to replace the wiring. I bought the care for $700, and to replace the wiring would probably be significantly more than that. By the time I stopped by on my way out of town, he said they had it starting again, but weren't sure exactly what did the trick.

I know there was a recall on the wiring harnesses way back when, and now I'm starting to think mine never got taken in. It's a shame, only has 76k on it.
