So I'm driving into work this morning and my 2000 Svt 91k miles quietly stalls as I was pulling up to an intersection (with a dozen cars behind me of course, and a few horn blowers in the bunch to boot!)
not a sound when it stalled...
Push in the clutch and try starting it again, the key does nothing the engine seems totally dead and won't turn over, the dash lights come on, everything else seems fine... tried several times.. nuthin...
Then it starts and runs fine! ( I may have turned the key off and then back on with the last try, not sure since the horns behind me are getting a little more intense...)
Any ideas?
Stalled, won't turn over for 30 seconds, then starts runs fine...WTF!

Sounds like an electrical problem. When the car doesn't "start", is the PATS light flashing fast in the console above the radio?

Did it again this morning, turned the key off this time and turned it back on, it started right up... The next time it happens I'll look for the light.. thanks...

No Engine lights, it just quietly stops running and YES THE PATS light comes on.... 4 times it's happened... about once a week

Check the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor). They are known to have wires frey at the sensor body and cause a short that will stall the engine and cause the PATS system to engage.

Where does one find that?

Found it online... they mention the spedo doing strange things... mine seems fine. And it only stalls as I pull to a stop. Could it be the senor itself?
