mondeoman
Hello there! When you reference "kit" what specifically are you referring to? What is the VIN of your 'Tour and this will tell us the date of manufacture, and hence the engine (unless the engine has been replaced).
lennit
Hello back...sorry talking about timing belt kit..when looking up kits i see there are 2 different ones and both have 3 total pulleys 2 idlers and 1 tensioner but with different dia.... but i notice in some literature later production 99 only had a tensioner and upper idler...so not sure if right kit was installed to on belt that broke.. the door production date is 5/99 and engine label says 4/28/99..when you look up kits there cut off dates say in March ..sometimes some of ford literature says it was in may /june time frame..very confusing as to what timing kit is correct one for my car..thanks
mondeoman
You would utilize the March 29,1999 model year and newer timing belt kit (ex. GATES Part # TCK294A vs GATES Part # TCK294 that is for the March 28, 1999 and older model years) that consists of timing belt (1), camshaft belt tensioners (1) and camshaft belt idlers (s). Your kit may or may not include camshaft inlet/exhause seals and crankshaft seal. I have even seen these kitted to include a waterpump!! See the rockauto.com site as source of reference. Thanks for getting right back to me and very good question you ask. Keep them coming!!
Aussie Ford
Good answer Buddy. With the VCT 2.0L one has to remember to reset the cam timing when replacing the belt too. Mikey and I know that the hard way. AF
