So, this seems like a simple question, but I have not been able to find the answer in any FSM or anywhere on the net. What is the correct numbering of the cylinders in a Duratec V6?

Is this correct?
--firewall--
3 - 2 - 1
4 - 5 - 6
--radiator--

If so, is it correct for both 2.5L and 3.0L? Specifically, I have a 1998 Contour SVT and am installing a 2005 Escape 3.0L. I have timing issues (no idle, bucking, backfiring, etc.) and I can't figure out why. I have new plug wires. Pulse wheel is set to 2.5 (using 2.5 TC). This is a full oval swap using escape LIM and Taurus upper.

The motor will run (really terribly, no idle) with the stock SVT tune and not at all with the 3L tune.
