Upper Engine Mount Bracket Modification

So when I installed the SVT heads on the 3L block, I umm... forgot to install the bracket. Doesn't really matter, the only bracket I had was not going to fit anyway. The early brackets, at least through '98, use larger diameter bolts. These brackets do not work on the 3L block, which has smaller diameter bolt holes.   I ordered the latest style bracket. It requires much less grinding than the original bracket. Here's a few pics to show where I ground the bracket to wiggle it into place. It di

The drivetrain is out. The driver's CV axle would not budge, so I left it installed. It did not pose a problem during hoisting. Engine bays this nasty should be illegal. Yuck.       Now here's an idea that is somewhere between a stroke of dumb luck and a stroke of utter genius. When I purchased the Max EH UIM I knew I would need to adapt a throttle body. Both front and rear roll restrictors were completely collapsed. One of the bolts on the front roll restrictor mounting brackets was cross threaded. The engine hoist is mounted and ready. All that is left to disconnect is the A/C compressor.

Everything has been going smoothly. It's a Texas car, so no rust, but plenty of oily grime. Both CV axle outer boots have holes and have been slinging grease. The brakes are in decent shape, but they aren't going back on the car. No ABS on this car. The inner tie rods are nice and tight. I think I'll replace the outer ends just because. I already have new lower control arms. The hubs feel OK but the knuckles are covered in thick grime.   I did not know the 2.5L and SVT exhausts were bent diffe

Craptour Tear-down

Serious work on the Craptour finally begins. I started the tear down last night after sunset (~8pm) and worked very leisurely until about 2am. It was Memorial Day, so work progressed between 12oz curls of Bud and snacking on BBQ.   Just some observations along the way.... the trans was filled with ATX fluid. Typical. The little bit of driving I did in the car did not show any problems with shifting. The fluid was clean. The engine mounts look like they have collapsed. The coolant was clean, pr
