  1. Over the past year or so I've noticed the Facebook group well outpacing the website in actual usage. I mean like 100-1 in most cases, and since the spammers are out in the wild taking advantage of any quiet forums I've decided that since the bulk majority are using the Facebook group instead of the actual forums that this is going to spell the eventual wind down of these forums. Let's face it folks, the cars are almost 20+ years old and they aren't considered collectible. People drove most of these into the ground and they really don't even show up in scrap yards anymore because they are just dwindling in numbers. The fact that the car was only made 5 model years doesn't help.... But aside from that, the actual participation of the members has been non-existant in years meaning that probably over 3/4 of the actual members don't even own these cars anymore. And that's over 7,000 members we have. Everything has a cost, and sometimes you have to know when to let a failing investment go. That time is coming... I will deliberate on this further but for the time being all registrations have been closed (Due to our Russian/Chinese spam artists unwelcome signups and sales/ad posts...). Any current member that sees this can reply and I will read it. But I believe that this year is that this site gets relegated to history. -Dominic
  2. To all the new and existing members I want to extend a warm holiday greeting. We are in that season of holidays and even though the Facebook group gets more use than this forum I still support it and pay for it out of my own pocket. Next year marks 23 years this site has been up and helping owners. We've seen cars and members come and go, and lost some people along the way. At the end of the day, this community used to be like a family - Well before MySpace and Facebook really took over and changed the game. As much as commercial sites that aggregate people are popular - The grassroots sites like this are where the actual dedicated and passionate people visit. Free of the ads, marketing and algorithms. Unfortunately these sites are no longer popular... And I get it. There's no distractions with TikTok videos or Instagram posts from celebrities and other "influencers". The fakeness of a lot of these so called "influencers" is unreal. They only believe in fame and attention... not helping people - Just remaining popular. I'm not an "influencer" or a YouTube star... Don't want or need it. At the end of the day, looking at all the statistics and traffic... This site is really showing it's age. Traffic alone doesn't allow me to judge how worthwhile keeping this site alive really is.. But "Nothing lasts forever" is a real thing. I'm opening up the floor to all members to give me feedback. Post a reply and let me know what you think. I'll leave this open till the end of the year and I'll read all the responses. Good, bad.. it's all feedback. -Dominic
  3. Scrap yard is your friend these days.
  4. I hope you find the trunklid and quarter to match as that's about twice the size of the existing lamp. Again, not an easy task as the USDM Contour/Mystique was purpose built for our regulations. You'd be better off selling the car and buying a Mondeo that is already equipped for that market and has the same features. -Dominic
  5. Nothing in the United States unfortunately as all the Contour lights were single bulb (just like the Mystique). Unfortunately overseas vehicles have a different rear clip with drastically different rear tail lamps that are bigger and multi-function. Sorry, no easy suggestions on this one. -Dominic
  6. I've used Chrysler bushings before , don't have the part number off the top of my head (it's been years!)
  7. Contour's don't have a distributor. They have a coil pack. They have a ground wire that goes to the bracket where the DPFE is mounted on the side of the head.
  8. I posted this over 21 years ago! Please read the thread as it will have as much information as you could possibly need. -Dom
  9. Age, care (or lack thereof) and people passing them down. Keep in mind they were only produced from 1995-2000, and they weren't exactly hot sellers in the later years. Most have ended up in scrap yards. Alot of them were cheap first cars for kids. You can imagine how that worked out.
  10. Mine was bolted through one of the ABS bracket bolts.
  11. Honestly never required me doing an ABS bleed procedure on the Bosch unit. I never had an issue with air being trapped in it like the newer units on the Edge and Taurus models. Those are no fun to get the air out of and actually require multiple activation and even doing panic reverse stops to bleed the air out of them. Should be pretty straightforward with the Bosch.
  12. Just for grins and giggles have you tried to unhook the brake line at the fender where it goes into the hose to the caliper? This can rule out the hose being internally collapsed which can restrict fluid. Otherwise, replacing the hydraulic unit may be the only remedy.
  13. I would say a scrap yard but they are becoming a scarcity anymore. I wish I had one laying around, but that's not a typical replacement part. -Dominic
  14. If the wires are exposed, and you can see them from the top - Chances are the wiring for the crank and cam sensors are also exposed and shorted. That's the biggest pitfall of these cars when they age - the wiring harnesses fall apart. Check the rest of the wiring, especially down by the critical sensors like crank and cam. -Dominic
  15. It was a custom fit bulb that I soldered in quite a many years ago... lol. It's still working though to my knowledge.
  16. She's clean! Take care of it, there aren't many left in that shape. -Dominic
  17. Bad PATS system is rarely a thing... When you first turn the key on, the PATS light on the clock should come on solid - And then go out. If it doesn't come on or flashes rapidly you have a PATS or electrical issue. -Dominic
  18. I would try posting in the Northwest Section and there may be a member willing to take the car off of your hands. I realize a disintegrating wire harness is a tough thing to get around, but it's not terminal. They can be fixed. -Dominic
  19. I replaced mine with LED. Never going to touch that sucker again in my lifetime...lol.
  20. I don't have enough information to answer that question properly, however it appears the valve bodies are matched to the production date of the transmission itself. The RF3 and RF7 are the valve body casting revisions. And it looks like (RF3) 1995-1997, (RF7) 1998-2000 is how they break down. I don't know if you can swap them as I've never attempted it before. -Dominic
  21. Well, cutting wires will get you into trouble. By the sound of your issues, it sounds like you blew a fuse or two. Check F34 (7.5A) in the inside fuse box and possibly fuse 25. It sounds like you took some circuits out when you were cutting or working there. They make adapter harnesses that are super cheap and prevent you from cutting wires. For someone so picky, I find it interesting you would go out of your way to cut the wires instead of just plugging in a harness adapter to wire your new radio to. Almost every parts store carries them because Ford was pretty standardized back then.
  22. Generally a shorted VSS can cause the 452. I would start with the easy code before diving into the 628. Inspect the VSS harness for frayed or bare wires (common) and repair/replace as necessary. -Dominic
  23. You're welcome. Happy to help. -Dominic
  24. I believe that is referred to as an "Inlet Tube" and has the original part# of F8RZ-8290-AA. -Dominic
