  1. Since it's been so long my 69 year old brain can't remember how contact you direct sorry! Anyhow talk to I'll do a cut paste from his QRZ page. JEFFREY JOHN BLIGHT LOWBELL HANDY CROSS BIDEFORD EX39 3ES England Jeffrey is a partner in family garage/Ford dealship, Bp station and a Spar shop his dad must have been started years ago he spope about is dad being 83 and his wife runs the Spar shop. he explained the Spar is not unlike what allot of our gas stations here have mini-mart. one jeffs old restorations Terry and his Ham radio hobby! Just like you always said "yes over here most of our cars have manual gearboxs!!!! You folks have all those autoboxes!! Anyhow every now and then I talk Hams in the UK but this was my first who knew what a Duratec was!!!! All the Best Terry!!! Paul Echelberger OH by the I still have my Two 98 Mystiques!Damn that stink-in no good SALT!!!!! They're still look'en good but get down and underneath a real bitch (what's a UK word that in could use instead of bitch Terry?)
  2. This question is on the rear sway-bar bushing to body. Is the rubber bushing id designed to be slightly smalled ID than sway--bar OD? I'm finally getting around to re-bushing the rear/etc on the back-up Mystique LS and on my original thinking the bar was 17MM I replaced with 17mm bushings. It was my understanding that 4-cylinder used 16mm, the V-6 used 17mm and SVT 18mm factory? However after year or so replacing the bushing started to squeal annoyingly! So while taking it apart I Mike'd the sway-bar it's 18 MM. This is 98 Mystique LS V6 ATX built 07/97. The back-up Mystique is same except 13 months older built 08/98. At 68 getting down and under and Theeeeen getting back out from under JEEZE!!!!! i noticed Rock auto info on the 17mm bushings says ID 16.75mm I've talked several times to your fellow countrymen (ham radio) but never run into any retired Ford engineers. If you know of any that were into Ham radio, well if your like me remember!!!! you've got to kiddingEH!!hi hi Oh Terry I was reading about World Bank info, do remember the UK's big money valuation/inflation in early 70's? We are getting ripe for that to happen here those the reckless idiots are printing money and possibly US loosing 25% of gold/dollar standard to the new group forming their own standard!!!! China,Russia & Brazil. can't afford to live any where affordably! Take care
  3. Thanks yes touched base with Assuie the Ole riverene rat from Nam 4-5-6 years???!!!! Read his findings and - yup Ford didn't have cue either what ended up on what model Durn shame! I got his email if you don't he checks in here much anymore?
  4. I have early 98 Mistake LS v-6 does anyone know if should have 18mm bar. I thought only SVT had the big diameter, so when I order parts for re-do of struts/etc/etc I order 17mm since 2.0 had the 16mm's. Well now couple years since squeak squeak????? I did use my old mike and measured with mm ruler it's 18mm??? I see now there is an up grade rubber has some of of fabric lining. Thanks for any help!!!!
  5. Neutral Safety Switch / Range Sensor Connector Rockauto.com has one listed if it is the one on harness! Paul
  6. F5RZ-2A411-A Plastic Retainer Grommet with brass insert sleeve I went to what use to be Bill Jenkins site it's called "connector brake booster" $9.31 + shipping. Bad thing I had two ea of those HOWEVER the ole "forgetter" kicked in????????? Maybe that piece is used in other Fords?
  7. This still sounds like the IRMC is not actually operating. The only way to test is the proper computer/tester commands it to open and then visually watch it and a value between open and close will change under the proper PID. I can just test this with my OBDII software and interface from Alex Peper. www.OBD-2.com I've had for years and without Alex's configuring a new command I can on request fuel pump and IRMC to run. These new cars all require a full duplex type of tester. Many testers that repair shops buy,ie Snap-on etc but expensive and require subscriptions or $$$$$. They're way more sophisticated than the code readers! Unfortunately for the average motor head no way around it,except make friends with private shop that has the toys to assist you. if you start young enough and start with the right tester that can do multiple vehicles or affordable expandable, but if you notice how fast computers/cell phones etc keep changing!!!!!
  8. What is the metalugy of our engines castings? wonder why CGI just catch on it's supposedly been known since 1949? I'm got a guess that with these smaller displacement engines pumping out so much more power, which brings out more higher heat in smaller amount of casing -something about expanding more than what even safe for alumium. One of those hidden issues with saving energy nothing free! Am I close> Just like Obamacare just wait in another ten years -"damn that dumb move"! But to later the government will be in full control of our lives. Screwed!!!! ? TNX Paul
  9. propretary ingredients? or Stoddard solvent and acetone probalbly do similar or not????? For $30 bucks I can get two gallons of acetone at Menards or 5-6 bottles of Techron Hmmmmmm. It just erkes me all the magic snake oils atleast you've tried it. Wish I had a lab and be able to test all this stuff NAH too old to care except I would really like to fly AC-130 gunship around DC and shock &awe all the lying idiots -politicains!!!!!!
  10. HI check out an earlier question -this many time does not set and code, at least it didn't over the last 15 years I've owned mine. The IMRC box that's locted up the beauty panel. Not the cable from box to what looks like an early Ford throttle contol. and a lever from it to the front banks runner air control plates. All the best Car loses power when hot then surges, then must cool down
  11. Thanks Terry Just happen to be in this area, related to 2001 Escape 3.0. and misfires!!!! This whole issue with rebooting/flashing computer, trying to find a source for the program load and of course how to id what you have? I talked with local shop owner (works on everything) and he said Oh I lots of experience with misfires on Escapes-all the way from plug, cop, wiring harness issues to just reflashing PCM/ECU or just reflashing or replacing PCM and then flashing the new PCM. It's so far away from KISS,if one isn't doing this for a living it's just so much correct equipment, proper computer software & hardware techniques! Darn lost my train of thought at 66 very frustrating. Oh issue with the running changes on software loads getting ECU from like same year vehicle the tech still had to reflash to get it to run. Ah such proprietary fun it's more like working for CIA or the NSA!!!!! I feel so helpless trying to help these young working kids, single moms &dads driving 100K plus bean counter engineered vehicles. Trying to locate the real fault that caused the misfires such the driver transistor in the PCM/ECU, what cause it, the COP, or this wiring harness nightmare bean counter engineered? As you know if you just throw parts at it $$$$$ wasted! Having to rely on someone else to troubleshoot how is the learning process for the young folk going to happen. The higher the technology is creating stupid!!!! I'm assuming if I could afford Michell's subscription they have the software, wiring diagrams and whatever aids i can't envision? The sad part is the dealers, you can't count on them either to get right the first time and that causes more wasted $$$$$ that most folks don't have. I bad part Terry I know just enough to be dangerous in that everything so proprietary and closed to the private individual to do anything for himself. I noticed on the Motorcraft service site that the big spread-sheet from original to latest is gone, they only show the latest. I guess the days of even the shop having all the info to work with coming fast. The local tech or the guy sweeping the floors hooks up the remote network and troubleshoot remotely. Any idea how that will work wiring harness cut rate insulation issues? It hasn't worked at the phone company, the only that saved quality issues is the Cell phone has lower the quality bar people are excepting least quality as the norm JEEZE!!! cks! Darn lost my train of thought at 66 very frustrating. Oh the running changes on software loads getting and ECU from another working like vehicle the tech still had to reflash to get it to run. Ah such proprietary fun like working for CIA or the NSA!!!!! I feel so helpless trying to help these young working kids, single moms &dads driving 100K plus bean counter engineered vehicles. Trying to locate the real fault that caused the misfires such the driver transistor in the PCM/ECU, did the COP, or this wiring harness nightmare bean counter engineered. OK ORF got that off his chest Thanks so much for listening Older I get the more I realize I don't know or something like, besides it's our job as an ORF is to bitch!!!!! Paul
  12. It's a long story and I won't bore you! 2001 vs a 2005 how much different are the manifolds? TNX or arigato
  13. Besides the base of the windshield how many other places or parts have the matching Vin numbers on our vehicles? If this info is on the Ford CD manual, I can't find it? I'm assuming there is a seperate body manual that has this info? I don't believe in the last 15 years I've ever heard anyone ask for this info? TNX Paul
  14. Unless your tight-wad like me and having two LS's I bought 6 single plats and 6 double plats. Firewall side gets doubles and raditor side the singles!!!!Paul
