  1. *slaps forehead* Thaaaaaank yooooou.... That airbag light's been going since last autumn, but I didn't know that the cruise and horn controls were inop until a few weeks ago. I guess I just hadn't used either in a long while! I'll have to look at my service CD to see what the repair procedure is, but chances are I won't fix/get it fixed before I sell it.
  2. When I went from the stock 14" wheels on my '95LX to SVT E1s with 225/50-16 tires, my speedo started to read about 9% low. I got tagged for a 76mph ticket when I had my cruise set at 69mph. Later I verified the speed differential using a GPS. It was a surprise, to say the least.
  3. I've had SVT E1s with 225/50 tires on my '95 w/ BAT suspension and rarely have had any rubbing. Max-lock turns or tight turns with pavement changes (i.e. pulling from parking lot onto a road where you pass through a rain gutter) are pretty much the only times, and my car sits low for a BAT kit. Definitely can't say I've ever had it happen at any speed higher than parking lot manuevers.
  4. There is one way, and you've got to be a real spotter to know this. :) The 1996s have remote fuel filler door releases. The 1997s don't.
  5. Yeah, but I never figured out what exactly that entailed. Was it anything more complex than a leather-wrapped wheel and power driver's seat? I always assumed it was just some relatively minor options package.
  6. I definitely agree. I'm on week...umm, week two with my '97MTX, and while it's not as slick as I remember my old Integras being, it's a LOT of fun and I like feeling the engine through the stick.
  7. *whine* That's SOOO much easier than the pre-98s. Those retaining tabs are a PITA.
  8. So, what is the preferred MTX-75 lubricant then? What does HMS use?
  9. I'd like to know that too...I swear, this will be the third one I've had to replace on my 1995 V6 if it keeps getting worse. Has anyone figured out a decent cleaning technique to save one that's starting to go out?
  10. Part of me wants to know how much this all ran, and part of me is terrified to find out. ;) You could PM me if you don't want to post it publicly, though. Oh well...it seems like my 97 has a strong ticker.
  11. I never went anywhere with this, it was going to be too much hassle to deal with the carcass anyway.
  12. I know it's been done...there's a guy over on contour.org that had dropped a 3L into his automatic-equipped Contour and then later swapped gearboxes, but the problem is you basically have to exchange everything up front that isn't engine or lights. That's an oversimplification, but not by much. 99% of the time, the answer is "Sell the auto and buy a 5-speed." Heck, it's what I did. Just out of curiosity, what's wrong with the transmission?
  13. Is the Stab-o-shock a different piece from the mounts, and is it beneficial to install?
  14. Hi, Terry, I just recently picked up a '97SE (75K miles) with MTX-75 rod shifter, and while it's driving pretty well now, one thing that I'm definitely wanting to do is get under it, check out the transmission mounts, and bring those up to snuff. I know that the SVTs and 98+s had differences, but what do I need to know or get to improve on what is probably a pretty tired arrangement in my car? Thanks!
  15. Not sure how much your wrecked SVT is, but I can't help but think that if your end goal is more speed and handling, you might just wanna jump to a 3.0L with the money you'd spend on dealing with the wrecked car.
