kronayne Posted March 18, 2013 Share Posted March 18, 2013 Hello, I have a 1998 Ford Contour SVT (not the 1998.5 model if that matters) and I am wondering what the best transmission fluid would be. I would like to replace the fluid and I can see there is a bit of a debate on the subject as to which fluid is best. I have heard that it simply uses a certain ATF but I have heard that this information may be inaccurate. I looked at the transmission fluid document in Terry's knowledgebase but unfortunately I do not know enough about the components to tell which column applied to me so I am hoping that someone will be able to shed some light on this for me. I am also wondering what fluid needs to be used for the differential for this model. I am having issues finding this information. Terry's KB has an awesome document on the subject but I don't know which differential is in use in my vehicle. Everything is still "stock" if that helps provide me with some insight. Apart from XT-M5-QS Ford fluiod or the RP Syncromax fluid you can also use a Full synth 15W or 10W/40 Diesel Engine oil... Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
