Requesting 3.0L Parts list

Recommended Posts

Hello, I was wondering if there was a parts list that anyone has made for the swap. I believe my 2.5 SE just said it was done. So I am possibly looking at doing the swap. If anyone had made one and a list of possible upgrades to the 3.0L. I have a 98 SE or 98.5 SE I think and I am wanting the 3.0L swap. Is it best just to buy a totaled SHO if I can find one?

Is there a How To Guide?

Parts List: Needed UpGrades

Motor: Year ?? 3.0l Taurus, SHO if available

Wiring: ???

Clutch: upgrade ???

Other Parts: ???

Thanks for your help.

Not worried about CA legal. I am in the Military and the car will be registered in GA.

SHO engine is not compatible. Not even close.

Engine: '01-05 Taurus/Sable 3.0L Duratec. VIN code "S" on the eighth character.

Wiring: stock wiring is retained

Clutch: Sachs or LuK stock SVT clutch for a non-abused daily driver is fine. ClutchNet makes several kits which can handle more abuse.

other parts: MSDS headers, Trubendz cat back, BAT Inc. (British Auto Transfer) has some stuff.

You MUST get the computer reflashed. SCT dealers can provide a base tune to correct most issues, but a dyno shop can provide the best tune tailored to your setup.

Check out the 3.0L discussion on newcougar.org, but expect some flaming for newb questions. Read the pinned articles on that site before making a post.
