Solar Battery Charger: My New Interior Accessory

Recommended Posts

I've had the rear deck laying inside the house for a while now.  It and all the side panels were removed to locate and fix a leak in the rear window sill.  Last week, the battery died.  It was an AGM and it lasted longer than the standard lead ones for this car.  To keep the new $183 AGM battery going even longer, I attached this:

I ran the wiring from the battery terminal, through the clutch blank and the driver's side door sills.  It used to be plugged into the cigar lighter, but it kept popping the fuse.  I'm waiting for the next rain storm to see if the leak is fixed before putting it in.  The solar panel should keep the battery topped off all the time, though I don't think it will keep it from going dead if I leave the lights on...again.
