alan reid
Hello all, I need to replace the high pressure power steering line on my '99 contour SE, 2.5L, auto. trans. No problem getting to the top fitting, but anyone have any tips on getting to the fitting on the steering gear, other than pulling the engine out? I had to order the hose, so in the mean time, I decided to see what all I was in for. Just crawled out from under the car and it sure does look like it will be a pain to get to that lower fitting, if I could actually see it. I don't have a lift, just ramps and jack stands. It may be easier than it looks and I am just missing something. Any good / easy way to do this? Alan
PNWContour
THere are some brackets holding the power steering line in black under the car.. if you get those off then the whole line should be able to be wiggled out. You might have to drop the back half of the subframe a little to get to it and disconnect the steering column. All very easy just time consuming. it would be good if you had someone along to help
