  1. Looks like the head gasket is blown. I don't exactly know how bad it is. What are some things I can do to keep the engine cool n running strong?
  2. @trykstyr, I put a new thermostat in it and that's when it started to over heat. I'm going to work on it tommorow with my dad. All the lines seem to be pushing the anti freeze just fine. One thing my dad did point out is that one side of the engine felt cool while the other side was extremely hot. He says it could be that there's valve in the water heater not letting water circulate and blocking fluid from circulating. I'll keep you guys posted. Thanks for your ideas man. Really appreciate it.
  3. @Taylor yeah we bled it out, put in new anti- freeze and all that. I'm not exactly sure which coolant sensor, ill have to get back to you on that one. It's my car, but my dad is the real mechanic, ill ask him. I hope its not the head gasket, but we'll see. I'll be working on it tommorow. Thanks for your reply brother.
  4. What's up guys I'm back with another problem. Thanx for helping me locate the speed sensor. But now I'm having an issue with the engine getting way too hot. My car has about 170,000 miles, when I first bought the car it was missing the thermostat and the coolant sensor. Since then, I put a new thermostat and coolant sensor. And it still over heats. The radiator and all of the lines that carry coolant seem to all be working fine. I'm think there's an issue with the fans. The fans come on, but after the engine is way too hot. (Fan comes on when temperature guage is in the red) I don't know Wtf is going on! Can somebody please help.
  5. I'm back with another issue. Thanks for helping me locate the speed sensor by the way. My new issue is the tranny. When I put it in 3rd, it grinds. I have a 98 svt 2.5. Am I not shifting right? Or is there an issue wit my tranny that needs to be fixed?
  6. Thanks brother. I'll give it a try on my next day off.
  7. Hey Dom, thanx for the reply. I guess my real issue though is finding the vss. I know that it should be on the transmission somewhere. Can you give me more specific directions on how to get to the vss. Removing and replac ing it will be the easy part. Thanks Dom. Thanks guys.
  8. What's up guys? I'm new on here and looking for some help to fix my 98 contour svt. If there are any mechanics in the house who are familiar with this car give me a shout. I appreciate it.
  9. I have a 98 Ford contour svt. With a duratec 2.5 v6. My vss went bad and my speedometer is not working. How do I get this issue fixed? I bought the Hayes repair manual and it doesn't cover much on this issue. Please help.
  10. I just bought a 1998 contour act with the duratec v6 2.5 engine. I have a bad vss and it stopped my speedometer from working. How do I go about fixing this issue?
