francispennysac Posted May 28, 2014 Share Posted May 28, 2014 hello all! i am new to the forum.. not new to cars. so i just bought a 98 mercury mystique gs with the 2.slow, auto trans. at idle its rough and dies out on me.. while driving i dont feel like i am getting the power i should.. although i dont know what 125hp should feel like in this car. lol. i replaced the fuel filter.. clean the MAF....and curently am checking for vacuum leaks or broken vac hoses.. car has a bit of hesitation from a dead stop or applying smal ammounts of throttle at any speed.. ANY ADVICE.. would be great.. i just bought the car for all of 800bux. the first two days of driving i did not get any CEL...but the thrid day it popped on while driving down the freeway.. the hesitation has been there since i bought it and im assuming this is why im geting a p0171 CEL code. again any advice would be great... i believe i will b checking the pcv valve next..
