Kyle.D
Hello, I have a 98 Contour SE it recently started shifting very hard and delayed, it would also slip pretty badly to the point where i couldn't even move. I scanned it and got code P1747- Pressure Control Solenoid A short circuit. I have searched everywhere and cannot find the wiring diagram for the epc solenoid. How likely is it that it is a bad connection and not the epc itself? I cannot diagnose this without a diagram and I don't want to replace it if it's just a faulty connection. Any help and information would be great. Thanks in advance! -Kyle
mondeoman
Your EPC is within the transmission solenoid body, internal to your CD4E tranaxle. Do verify your electrical connections first, cleaning them with electrical contact cleaner such as LPS. Your wiring diagram you requested - http://www.justanswer.com/ford/2v8w6-wiring-diagram-component-location.html General info - http://www.automotivetroubleshootingsecrets.com/P1747%20OBD2%20fault%20codes-23.htm http://www.justanswer.com/ford/0k0w8-98-ford-contour-w-cd4e-transmission.html Actual R&R of the trans solenoid is at the link named "Ford directions" - http://www.justanswer.com/ford/1x6pr-replace-epc-solenoid-1998-contour.html
Kyle.D
Thank you^ I checked the harness and it was getting voltage and signal, so I decided to get a new (used) valve body. I put it in a couple of days ago and it seemed to fix the problem. However today I was driving and it started slipping, searching for gears, and slamming again. I now have the same code P1747 pending. I am very confused now. Could it be the pcm/ecm itself? Any advice would be great, thank you.
CrewChiefPro
Check the wire insulation all the way to the ECM. Many 98s had wiring issues which can cause this issue.
Adolfo Castro Granillo
a question is asked oil change to a manual transmission v6?, the question is because it takes automatic transmission oil and let me know if you like to change the automatic transmission! mondeoman
Check the wire insulation all the way to the ECM. Many 98s had wiring issues which can cause this issue. Definately agree that wiring should be checked as this condition "disappeared" for a few days then "came back" - referred to as an intermittent and the wiring harness can provide us with intermittents for certain.
