00Cowboy
Howdy, All. Just bought an '00 SE. The suspension, bearings, and such are good, but I'm getting an awful noise from the trunk. Crawled under and it seems like the EVAP braket is making all the noise. Called a tech and he said that's what is in the box. Anyone heard of an issue with them and what to do to fix? Contemplated foam Great Stuff, but thought better of it because about that time, the can will have to be replaced. Greg
mondeoman
You have me there - evaporator bracket causing this "noise in trunk". How about checking the rear sway bar brackets - have they seperated from the rear cross-member?
00Cowboy
I'll check the sway bars. The evap can is not causing the noise. It's suspension related. Might even be the struts failing. I'm going to have to have a shop look at things to let me know what needs replacing.
Terry Haines
...start with the short 'stab bar links'..the small bush at the bar end tends to wear out and rattle...and/or the rubber 'top hats' at the suspension arm end can also cause a noise.. 00Cowboy
Stabilizer links!!! Exactly what was wrong. Bushings were toast. Got the new ones in ($17 and an hour of my time) and it's much quieter. Thank you.
